Deep Trekker to Showcase the DTG2 ROV at the 2013 Canadian Nuclear Society Conference

June 6th, 2013. Deep Trekker today announced that they will introduce their premiere product, the DTG2 submarine micro Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to the nuclear industry at the 2013 Canadian Nuclear Society Annual Conference. The show, which runs from June 9 – 12th was chosen after the successful implementation of Deep Trekker DTG2 submarine ROV with Florida Power and Light at the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant.
For St. Lucie’s power plant, it was evident that the affordable cost, portability, ease of use, and low maintenance would make the Deep Trekker a great asset to the nuclear community. Deep Trekker ROVs can be used for inspections of reactors, pipes, filtration, outflow channels, pressure retaining systems and more.
Rusty Hurt, project manager at St. Lucie, remarked, “Because of excellent planning, close vendor support, and interdepartmental cooperation, the project was successfully implemented in less than 60 minutes. As a major bonus, the final cost of performing, including the cost of purchasing the sub was a fraction of the projected cost from the original inspection contractor.”
With onboard batteries, the DTG2 is fully self-contained, with no need for external power, topside box, or other installations. Deploying in less than 30 seconds, the Deep Trekker DTG2 can be inspecting in no time. Sam Macdonald, President of Deep Trekker said, “We’re extremely excited for those in the nuclear industry to experience firsthand the capabilities of Deep Trekker at our live demo. Engineers will quickly see the usefulness of our portable ROV at this affordable price.”
