Creating Innovative Solutions to Tackle Water Issues

The global water cycle is facing many challenges as the demand for water increases – mainly due to a growing population, emerging economies and changes in consumption patterns. On April 15 to 17, Deep Trekker will attend Water Environment Association of Canada (WEAO) in London, Ontario to demonstrate its fully submersible, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and discuss innovative solutions to help combat water issues for various industries in Canada and around the world.

Climate change is a key contributor to the water challenges we encounter and as it intensifies – dry areas become drier and wet areas become wetter – we need to find solutions to mitigate the risks that arise as a result. Over 5 billion people could be affected by water shortages by 2050. Deep Trekker understands the importance and need for clean, accessible water and continues to provide affordable, effective and sustainable solutions to monitor, protect and preserve our supply to ensure sustainable development.

Water for People

In support of tackling said water challenges, Deep Trekker will attend Water for People Charitable Event – an international nonprofit working across nine countries to bring safe water and sanitation to four million people. The event seeks to educate and inform people in creating long term, sustainable change to maintain healthy, safe, drinking water and to create sanitation services to last for generations to come.

ROVs Used for Water Tank Inspections

Going into Water Tank

Regular maintenance and inspection of water tanks  is critical to the long-term vitality of treatment plants and to the quality of potable water flowing through it. To prevent costly repairs, frequent inspections must take place. Hiring divers to conduct routine inspections is a costly and often time consuming process and the confined space can pose major risk and safety concerns to divers.

“Deep Trekker’s mission is simple. We are innovators who understand the importance of our natural resources and we look to tackle water issues that surround us by utilizing our robotic systems,” says Sam Macdonald, President, Deep Trekker Inc. “With our fully submersible crawlers, we have the opportunity to help municipalities and contractors resolve inefficiencies that may otherwise go unnoticed and in turn contribute to solution-based ideas to combat water challenges.”

Deep Trekker ROVs offer frequent routine inspections at an affordable price. Its portable, compact design and onboard battery source allows operators to deploy within seconds. In addition, generators and additional power supplies are not required within a treatment facility, allowing for a highly efficient inspection.
