Closure for the Reiner family after a long winter of searching
Amanda Coulas | May 7, 2014
The body of 5 year old Robbie Reiner was found yesterday after he went missing December 26, 2013 and had presumably fell into the Ninth River close to his home. In this harsh and long winter, the waters were extremely dangerous for police and divers to search the area for the young boy. During the winter months, a team of volunteers deployed a Deep Trekker ROV to continue the search in a more safe manner as the weather conditions worsened.
With improvements in the weather after months of searching, two search volunteers found his body in the river near the hamlet of Haysville, about 5 km from New Hamburg on Tuesday. “One was an off-duty police officer. The second was just a regular community member here, volunteering his time,” said Staff Sgt. Shaena Morris.
