Automatic Position Recalibration
USBL Alternative
Complementary to Dead Reckoning
RTK/SBAS Compatible (2.5cm Accuracy)
RTK/SBAS Compatible (2.5cm Accuracy)
Time-to-first-fix (hot) 1 second
GPS add-on optimizes dead reckoning and position tracking experience for underwater ROV pilots.
The GPS is available for the REVOLUTION and PIVOT, and utilizes an Ethernet 7-pole port, mounting on the top of the ROV, in the same location as the USBL Transponder. If a customer needs to use both USBL and GPS at the same time, we can make custom mounts. The ROV GPS is constructed with a 300m depth rated housing, and a flexible periscope-style arm that allows for it to withstand strikes on surfaces and return to optimal position.
The ideal use case for the GPS is to recalibrate the ROV’s position showing on the mission map during a dive, so that you can ensure you understand where you are going and where you have covered accurately. Our dead reckoning capabilities, combining our DVL and SensorPod+ and BRIDGE software, track the ROV’s position under the water accurately for about 30 minutes. If you surface, you “restart” the clock on your position and are able to continue your mission with a good understanding of your position.
