Weather and climate change have led to an increases in the prices of Emirates favorite fishes in Dubai, with some up by as much as 40 per cent. The costly increase led consumers to file complaints, asking authorities to curb prices and minimize the escalation over the coming period. Additional concerns were voiced as the winter weather has yet itself to be a factor, and traditional causes instabilities and high waves that govern seasonal increases.
Emirati fishermen have confirmed the price increase, explaining that the risks and dangers intensify at sea, durin bad weather. They verified that decreased supply is contributing to the rise of prices and that consumers’ acceptance of such prices contributed to their inflation.
The price of fish rose drastically on Sunday in the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) markets, evidence of the growing lack of supply due to inclement winter weather.
Salesmen at the RAK fish market said that fish supply is sufficient to meet the demand during the day, whereas quantities of fish are brought in from Dubai, saying that prices are good and affordable.
