February 10, 2015. At Underwater Intervention in New Orleans Deep Trekker Inc. is showcasing for the first time a brand new Remotely Operated Vehicle, the Deep Trekker DTX2. This new ROV represents the first in a new line of subsea vehicles to complement the companies existing portable ROV line, the DTG2. The Deep Trekker DTX2 is the first ever subsea vehicle to combine the patented pitch mechanism that Deep Trekker is known for with 4 powerful, vectored thrusters for maneuverability unmatched in this vehicle class.
Rated for depths of up to 1000 feet and over 28 lbs of thrust, the DTX2 is as powerful and strong as it is nimble and easy to use. “The DTX2 is the culmination of our customers’ desires to have the same capability, portability, and ease of use in a package rated for offshore use,” said Sam Macdonald, President of Deep Trekker Inc. “We have had significant interest from customers in Aquaculture, Energy, and Military industries for this increased capability, and we are ecstatic to be able to bring this level of sophisticated engineering to the market, at a reasonable price.”
Integrating vectored thrusters allows for lateral movement in the horizontal plane, and by activating the pitch system, the DTX2 can achieve simultaneous vertical and lateral movement using only 4 thrusters. Staying true to the market need for a fully integrated system, the DTX2 is powered by on board rechargeable batteries, and takes advantage of the companies superbright screen hand-held control module. Standard sensors on all DTX2 packages include Heading, Depth, and Temperature. Integrations available for increased intelligence include the Tritech Micron Sonar, the Teledyne Blueview Sonar, Cygnus Ultrasonic Thickness guage, USBL navigation system and more. A continuous 360 degree rotating mechanical grabber arm is also available on the DTX2.
