Deep Trekker Integrates TriTech MicronNav UBSL Positioning System for DTG2 Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).

Ayr, Ontario October 21, 2014. Today Deep Trekker announced their newest advancement to the Deep Trekker DTG2 Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) product line with the integration of the TriTech MicronNav Positioning System. Piloting the Deep Trekker ROVs are extremely easy to do, although there is an added complexity when you cannot see where the ROV is underwater. With this new integration, operators can map the path that the Deep Trekker ROV takes while completing underwater inspections.

Unlike traditional GPS which cannot work underwater, the TriTech MicronNav USBL (Ultra Short BaseLine) Position System uses acoustics to communicate with the topside USBL dunking transducer. Reporting live the position of the launch site or vessel as well as the Deep Trekker ROV. “This new integration is a game changer for the Deep Trekker DTG2 ROV,” commented Sam Macdonald Deep Trekker President. “Not only do we provide a robust and maneuverable ROV for an affordable price, but we now also provide the sophisticated options previously only available on much larger, costly and cumbersome ROVs.”

Maps can even be overlaid onto the software in real time for real world positioning.
